AUTHENTIC LOCAL ITALIAN GELATERIA IN THE HEART OF NOTTING HILL

Located in the heart of Notting Hill’s vibrant Portobello Road is one of London’s best kept secrets - Dri Dri the authentic Italian gelato. Made using the finest organic ingredients sourced from trusted farmers and growers throughout Europe, Dri Dri’s gourmet gelato is made on-site and served from a traditional pozzetti counter.

Since its opening in summer 2010, Dri Dri’s authentic Italian experience has been an instant hit amongst both locals and visitors stopping by for an espresso at the counter, or to pick up a take away tub of gelato to enjoy at home. Dri Dri epitomises the essence of Italian romance, making it the perfect place to take a date and try one of Dri Dri’s specialties such as an affogato (espresso served over a scoop of gelato).

Dri Dri has researched and tasted produce far and wide to source only the best ingredients for its gourmet gelato. Using organic milk from local farms, pistachios and lemons from Sicily, liquorice from Calabria, Comice pears from England, Granny Smith apples from France, handpicked mandarins from Spain and 100% Arabica organic coffee from Sumatra, Dri Dri gelato is both natural and full of flavour.

Owned and run by Italian entrepreneur Adriano di Petrillo, Dri Dri’s vision was born from his own childhood memories of Gelato in his hometown of Parma in Northern Italy. Di Petrillo says; “When I talk to people about their experiences of Italy it always involves gelato. Homemade gelato in Parma is one of my earliest memories, and with Dri Dri I really wanted to bring a true Italian experience to London. I have spent a lot of time perfecting my recipes, sourcing the very best produce and conducting endless tastings. By utilizing the best gourmet ingredients and working with local producers Dri Dri is an authentic Italian gelato experience second to none in London.”

Dri Dri uses the most refined of artisan Italian traditions to deliver a superior gourmet gelato with intense natural flavours. Dri Dri recipes do not include any emulsifiers and non-natural thickeners, as the gelato is served directly from a traditional pozzetti counter and stored at an exact temperature ensuring that no additives are needed for preservation, a technique that is rarely found in London.

Whilst everyone is conscious of their health at the beginning of the year, choosing gelato over ice cream is an easy way of cutting calories. Containing whole milk instead of butter cream at around 6%, gelato is lower in fat compared to ice cream at 18-24%. Also gelato has very little air whipped into the product and is served at a warmer temperature than ice cream, giving it a real melt-in-the-mouth sensation.

Dri Dri invites customers to sample the following authentic flavours throughout January and February:

• Sicilian Pistacchio (Pistachio)

• Cioccolato (Chocolate) with a blend of selected South American chocolate

• Sorbetto al Cioccolato extra noir with Gran Cru chocolate from Sao Tome, Africa

• Stracciatella (Chocolate chips) with organic milk and extra noir chocolate chips

• Biscotto (Cookies and Cream) with artisan cookies from Lugo Italy

• Vanilla made with beans from Madagascar

• Bacio with dark chocolate and Tonda Gentile Hazelnuts

• Sorbetto alla Pera Comice (Comice pear sorbet)

• Sorbetto alla Mela Granny Smith (Granny Smith apple sorbet)

Based on Portobello Road, Dri Dri is a local hang out where Italians mix with local Londoners and visitors whilst sampling freshly made gelato, sorbets, chocolate and coffee.
